New Look for Lotus in the Mud

I have been fiddling with headers and layout. Sorry for any inconvenience! I guess it's better then changing my hair color all the time or places I live (although it has felt that way at times!)...

I just want a feel that I can't put into words. And I still haven't found it. I am going to take another poke at it and see if I can get the feel into style and layout. Of course ease of getting around on the blog and all that jazz!

I do trade out Lotus in the Mud Headers on my etsy site every 4 months. Just to freshen it up and make it feel alive! I have made my own and purchased some from other Etsy sellers :)...

So here I go again! Into the vault of creative funky vibelicious velvety cupcake ease! See I told ya it was hard to put into words what I want! :)

Going to the beach after Holiday weekend song ♫ *http://blip.fm/~7337n

Creativity, Kookiness and Tumblr

Ok I am sure alot of you have heard of Tumblr. It is a very easy format blog that u can set up and post pics, music, quotes and text. The style is simple and it is considered a microblog.. Blogging quick thoughts, etc...

Well I have had a tumblr account for quite awhile, and did nothing with it, me bad! But one day I changed up what my blogging idea was about and decided to jump in with both feet and my clothes on! So I decided to change up the name I had (new mojo I guess), and focused on the beach (one of my fav subjects!).. So I was beachgrrl on tumblr.. I posted pics of the beach, and thoughts about the beach, environmental causes to help the beach and sea life, as well as fun pictures not only of the beach, but cupcakes, glitter, etc. I found them on Flickr, and Photobucket, of course giving credit where due!

Well I started noticing that a number was growing.. It is a Tumblarity number. How sad is that or what? Tumblr recently decided to give people numbers of how popular they are in the world! Mine started out at 0 of course! Then by the end of week two it was 320 or 340.. And to get the number higher you have to post, like (which is send someone a heart to say you liked what they did) follow more and more people, get people to follow you as well as post original stuff. And I mean you had to post alot daily.. I would say 10-20 things and it was becoming a race against time. If you didn't post enough that day the number actually went down, even if you got more followers, etc! It was becoming a job, and really feed into my compulsiveness! Something I need no help with! :)

Stop the madness! I decided after a day of focusing on tumblr that it was time to unplug myself. So like a good extremess I am I deleted that account.. I couldn't blog and post and rush about online for the sake of popularity, or my ego..

Then a few dayz later I decided to start a LITM Tumblr blog. Now I just post some more personal stuff, as well as my favorite topics, of course eco-crafting! As well as fun pictures, stuff about my life, etc.. And my poplularity is 9 and I am so ok with that! It is more fun and more me!

I don't run with the big dogs on purpose, I find little peace in all that activity! I am more the little dog with the pillow my owner made for me out of eco friendly material! Who enjoys a good ride in the car to Micheals and organic treats.. That's me... Ruff Ruff

Recycled Totes Addiction

Got this in Thousand Oaks at Fruits and Passions.. Not so hot on their products, tooo many chemicals :(

But this bag is a recycled cutie.. I am a bag freak„ Of course they must be green to get my attention! :) This one is cute for the beach, pool or just out runnin around..

I looked online though, they don’t carry it.. :( sorry…

Eco Friendly Flip Flops on a Summer Day

Well my toes are all shrunk like prunes since I just got out of the hot tub and clicked the picture!!! :) I actually like my tootsies! :)

Got these in Oxnard.. I don’t ever go there, only to get off 101 and go to TJMAXX Shopping center.. Love it!

Ok these I got at Payless! They are from AE and are eco friendly! I love them because they are the same color as my swimsuit, which unfortunately isn’t eco friendly :(…. But I wear them till they fall apart, and my next one will be! :)

They are not for sale any longer on the website :( sorry again! But maybe in store still!

They are: PVC-free, degradable foam..

Mango Zango Smoothie

from HelloTxt

Mango Zango Smoothie Bliss

Ok this is a really nice Smoothie you can jazz up with flavored frozen yogurt too (plain is really better for ya).. I also like to use fancy sparkling waters instead of juice (keeps the sugar level lower!) :)

Mango Zango

0.50 pcs chopped organic mango

3.38 oz pro biotic frozen plain yogurt

3.38 oz natural orange sparkling water

Mix everything in a blender, and mix until you get a smooth mass.

Pour in a glass and enjoy. Add ice if necessary to make the smoothie more drinkable.

Ok like EASY too! Unlike T who makes these incredibly deluxe model Smoothies/Drinks.. I like simple! I had the hardest time figuring out the fancy smancy blender (again I do simple!!!

Carbon Footprint and Beach Time

I now live about 2 miles from the beach… And it is great, since in Cali it is not easy to live on or close to the beach unless you have unlimited green coming out your ears! We have a very low carbon footprint here. No air conditioning, only a cold water washing maching, I drive as little as possible, Tony takes the Bus (ok it is a Motorcoach!) to Santa Barbara everyday, and we walk alot!
But to go to the beach I have to drive… I don’t yet walk two miles, and well am lazy that way… Still working on getting myself going more!
We do have a Scooter.. It is more green friendly since it uses so little gas.. I just have to buy two helmets.. Since in Florida they don’t require helmets for Scooters or Motorcycles… I don’t mind the minor investment, I just am not comfortable driving around here on it.. It is a busy area with alot of traffic, I am use to driving it around Satellite Beach and enjoying the Ocean breeze in that sleepy little beach town!
So I may wait till the weekend and have Tony take me on it (although it is really only for one person)… We have rode it together and well we got a flat…. Opps!
Since I feel like we are only going to be here a bit longer, I want to spend sometime at the beach.. Sending Reiki, and healing to the waters and all who inhabit them.
But for today, I just meditate while my iTouch plays dolphin sounds in the background. Almost as good and low carbon footprint.

Rethinkin My Needle and Yarn Goals

Ok the last few dayz I have been enjoying cool weather and hangin with the grrls (karma and zen) and hubby... Clearing my head and enjoying the moments..

I still haven't really got the whole Crochet thing.. I know I will. I know that now. I am more confident and this will be my story with crocheting... I stopped, went forward, and slowed down.. It's all ok. There is no final destination. I know realize that I was putting alot of pressure on myself about the goals I have as a Crochet Artist.. I guess cause I was really really focused on my Artisan Bizz and being that I have been doin Jewelry for over twenty years.. I mean it took me along time to get where I am today thru TIME.. Time takes TIME..

Crocheting for me now seems like a fun, creative outlet, zen timez, restful healing of my mind! I am planning on (oh there's that word again) tryin out crocheted bracelet cuffs, lip balm holder, and anything small and fun... I am thinkin small for now.. then I can build up to amigurumi dolls.. I love those.. Small ones! :)

So what started out as beanies and scarves (since I am moving back to Florida they really wouldn't work) it is probably better I just enjoy the process of crocheting and start small..

I may even do jewelry, I do know how to macrame, and feel it may be similar other then you use a needle....

So as I settle into the realization that I can just relax, chill, even go to the beach and crochet w/o even thinking of the end result...

If everyday is precious.....

from HelloTxtIf everyday is precious, then what is a day doing Jury Duty for nine hours? BTW all the computer areas were booked. lt like they should have put a ankle monitors and striped outfits on us. We couldn't leave and it was just like a special form of hell... Not to be negative but it was so hard to sit there and wait, and wait and wait. I did get called to a jury, and it would have been a five day court case, and the defendant couldn't stop staring at all of us jurors, it was so intimidating... Scary really, he looked like Mike Tyson and was just so wigged out with the staring and looks at all of us he was completely turned around, it was so odd. He did this the entire time I was in the courtroom (30 minutes!).. I got off due to the fact that I do Respite care for a Highly functioning autistic boy and am needed weekly. I was so thankful to get out of that room, it actually smelled like a funeral home.. UGH! They say in Cali that folx usually get called for jury duty every 18 months! I was in Fla for 16 years and was never called!!! The Adventures of the Sad Little Cookie Sad yellow face

Have you ever felt

from HelloTxtHave you ever felt like a Dolphin lost from it's pod? Swimming, Swimming ever so far away, knowing that somethings wrong, but not being able to put your finger on it! And when u realize u have been displaced from your pod everything makes sense.. That's how it is for me being in Cali.. Not that it isn't sweet, nice, beautiful, etc, sure all those things.. It is the fact that I am far from my pod of friends and loved ones, and that can't just be recreated anywhere.. You don't just pick up and move and replace the faces, names and events with new ones.. At least I can't seem to, or want too. Spiritually I believe we have a link to all of us, but some of us have spent time together before, past lives maybe? And it seems the link for me is in Florida, I resonate with the warm, humid tropical like weather. Maybe a reminder of Lemurian times??? I relate to the dolphins in the Atlantic, the bottlenose dolphins that is....They seem like home too me also, as do the manatees, and sea turtles.. After all Dolphin Trilogy Reiki and all my creative writings have been in Florida. I kno wit's not perfect paradise there, no where is, but for me it's home and that is something I haven't had most of my life.. For now I dream of it, and soon I will set my toes in the sands of the beaches and watch teh dolphins play in the surf.. Ahhh.. pure bliss for me! 137.365 - And Only for Love

What I did Green today

Ok gotta have a list for everything right! haha.. But really this one is important to me.. I will try and post this daily and hopefully get others too! Hint Hint Hint! :)

Here's my list today:

Well I had a few birthdays I had to get cards for, so I went to Ocean Conservancy and got a email card that was thought provoking and beautiful (had dolphins on it!)..

I ran the dishwasher so full it was scary! Also used eco green dishwashing soap from Traders Joe and distilled vinegar *for the calcium build up on the dishes...

Didn't drive the car today. Walked and was online.

Ate organic today. Also had produce that was from California (ok pretty locale!)

Packed lunch for T today. Instead of him purchasing lunch (driving, money, etc)

Joined One million acts of green today.. Did the pledged to reduce my carbon footprint quiz.

Invited friends to join One million acts of green today.....

Well normally I do even more, today was a laid back day. Did alot of updating my blogs, and syncing stuff and so on. I find that the simplier my days are then the more green and less my carbon footprint is!

What ya do green today????

A Woman's Body Burden: Dozens of Man-Made Chemicals from the dailygreen.com

Study: Each woman's blood is laced with as many as 45 potentially toxic chemicals.

We already know what little girls are made of (sugar and spice and everything nice) but a new and alarming study finds that adult women are made of many more ingredients, none so sweet.
The blood of five women was tested over the course of two years, and researchers with the nonprofit Environmental Working Group and Rachel's Network detected dozens of man-made chemicals, some suspected of causing health problems.
Each of the women is a local advocate for environmental health and environmental justice -- the notion that poor and minority neighborhoods should not be subjected to more pollution because they lack political power.
That the researchers were able to detect these chemicals is not a surprise. They looked for chemicals that are widely in use today in American commerce, like flame retardants and synthetic fragrances. But the researchers say that the number and type of man-made chemicals in these women's blood "underscore the widespread and systemic failure of current law to protect the public from chemicals, many of which persist in the environment for decades or far longer, that are associated in animal studies with cancer, reproductive problems and behavioral effects."
Each woman tested positive for between 25 and 45 different chemicals. This "body burden" of chemicals isn't a new revelation: the results basically mimic past research on the subject. But the EPA is under increasing pressure to account for the health effects of contaminants at low levels (given that many chemicals can mimic hormones that act at minute concentrations) and the effects of contaminants in various combinations.

California dreamin? I think not

Ok I can't say that the beaches aren't lovely, they are... I can't say the rocky, jagged cliffs, and mountain terrain isn't so different from Florida and a nice change.. That the cool breezes this time of year are surreal and the ice cold pacific is a paradox to the warm atlantic ocean waters... But mostly I miss the swaying palm trees, the coast line without a view of oil rigs, warm waters that are refreshing to jump into and play, as well as the flat, yes flat nature of being able to see as far as the eye can. The possibilities, the endlessness.. That I miss the most..

There are so many great things about California, but it just aint Florida. If I would have come from Michigan, *where I was born and reared, then maybe it would have been the paradise lost for me.. But the paradise lost for me is Florida. My Family of friends, the warm tropical nites, the flip flops, Jimmy Buffett, drumming at the beach and mostly keeping the laid back lifestyle that probably was Cali in the 70's and is still Florida at least in some spots in the now.

I had no idea that I would be so homesick that all I could listen to is Jimmy Buffett. Everywhere I go I see our life as it was before moving. Our home in Titusville, and our life in Brevard.. One that was full and peaceful and the best people I have ever meet with all my travels under my belt.. I am so blessed... And my family beacons me back!
Now it is up to the Universe to supply our needs, which is of course always provided, just sit back and chill. So I am going to take alot of pics before I leave and take in the sights.. And all I ask of my friends is too please send love and peace so we can move thru this transition (and the drive thru Texas) with ease!

Love Ya Florida and all our family of friends!

That we are 75% or more water it makes sense that when we are near bodies of water we feel calmer, more zen like, at peace.
Drinking water, eatting foods with high water content, as well as vegetables from the sea.
In our homes having fountains in and outside.
Spa treatments that incorporate sea vegetables, water and sand, sea water as well as rocks and shells.
For our soul, swimming with dolphins, surfing, floating, beachcombing are more great ways to connect.
My book Ocean Potions for body mind and soul give you fluid ways to incorporate our connection to water and healing.
